Image Enhancement of the Super Resolution Channel (src) of the Mars Express Hrsc Experiment

چکیده
The SRC or Super Resolution Channel is the framing imaging subsystem of the HRSC experiment on the ESA Mars Express spacecraft, designed to show high-resolution detail within the broad swath of the HRSC push-broom camera. It has a separate optical system (focal length 980 mm, f/11) and a 1024x1024 CCD detector, achieving a ground pixel size of 2.3 m from an altitude of 250 km [1]. By December 2008, it had obtained about 8500 images.

The Mapping Performance of the Hrsc / Src in Mars Orbit
The images obtained by the HRSC (High Resolution Stereo Camera) on Mars Express show excellent potential for topographic mapping of the planet. The derived stereo models agree with topographic data obtained earlier by MOLA (Mars Orbiter Laser Altimeter) on the Mars Global Surveyor: For the image scenes from the Mars-Express commissioning phase that were studied, we find absolute differences in ...
متن کاملThe imaging performance of the SRC on Mars Express
The Mars Express spacecraft carries the pushbroom scanner high-resolution stereo camera (HRSC) and its added imaging subsystem super resolution channel (SRC). The SRC is equipped with its own optical system and a 1024 1024 framing sensor. SRC produces snapshots with 2.3m ground pixel size from the nominal spacecraft pericenter height of 250 km, which are typically embedded in the central part o...
متن کاملStudies of Phobos’ Orbit, Rotation, and Shape Using Spacecraft Image Data
Images obtained by the High Resolution Stereo Camera (HRSC) and the Super Resolution Channel (SRC) on the European Mars Express (MEX) spacecraft have renewed the interest in Phobos, the larger of the two Martian satellites. We are involved in a comprehensive study in geodesy and cartography of this small irregular (13.4 x 11.2 x 9.2 km) satellite. We focus on astrometric measurements to refine ...
متن کاملValles Marineris, Mars: High-resolution Digital Terrain Model on the Basis of Mars-express Hrsc
Introduction: Since December 2003, the European Space Agency’s (ESA) Mars Express (MEX) orbiter has been investigating Mars. The High Resolution Stereo Camera (HRSC), one of the scientific experiments onboard MEX, is a pushbroom stereo color scanning instrument with nine line detectors, each equipped with 5176 CCD sensor elements. Five CCD lines operate with panchromatic filters and four lines ...
متن کاملTopographic Mapping of Mars: from Hectometer to Micrometer Scales
We describe USGS topomapping of Mars at resolutions from 100 m to 30 μm with data from the latest spacecraft missions. Analysis of NASA 2001 Mars Odyssey Thermal Emission Imaging System (THEMIS) data combining daytime visible reflected, daytime IR emitted, and nighttime IR emitted images allows us to isolate the physical effects of topography, albedo, and thermal inertia. To a good approximatio...
